Love God
Loving God is the first of Friendship's "core" values: Love God, Love Others, and Serve. There are both corporate and personal components to loving God, and multiple opportunities to learn about Him and grow with others at Friendship.
Corporate Gatherings
Corporate worship is essential in the life of a Christian. Through singing, public scripture reading, prayer, and giving in a large group setting, we're reminded that we are not alone in following Christ. By joining our voices with others, we express our belief that the church is one body: the body of Christ.
Large corporate gatherings are also the best place to hear teaching from the Bible by a gifted communicator who has studied scripture and sought God's direction for each message. Friendship has multiple opportunities for corporate worship. Join us at our Lucas Ferry Campus for one of three services every Sunday: 8:20 AM (traditional worship), 9:30 or 11:00 AM (contemporary worship). You can also join us at Friendship's North Campus (Elkmont) every Sunday at 11:00 AM (blended worship - a combination of traditional and contemporary elements).
New Community is another corporate gathering held at Friendship every Wednesday night from 6:30 - 8:00. First Wednesday offers an extended time of praise, worship and teaching at New Community on the first Wednesday of each month. All other Wednesdays feature several topical CORE Communities in which you can continue your spiritual journey in the company of friends. For more information, go to the New Community page.
Personal Devotions
Personal worship and study (sometimes called devotions or quiet time) is also essential in the life of a Christian. The goal of the Christian life, to become progressively more like Jesus, requires more than an hour or two on Sunday. A daily commitment to reading and studying scripture, praying (listening to God as well as making requests), and engaging in other spiritual practices (disciplines like journaling, fasting, and memorizing scripture) allows God to work in our hearts, changing us from the inside out.
A number of Friendshippers are using the Life Journal to guide their daily reading and journaling. This bible reading plan takes you through the New Testament twice and the Old Testament once every year using S.O.A.P. (Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer) to get the most out of your time in the Bible.
By reading and writing down your thoughts daily, you will be amazed and what God can do in your heart. By using the Life Journal, you'll be reading the same scripture as others at Friendship and around the world. You can pick up a free copy of the Life Journal at any weekend service or at the church office during the week.
